Our goal is to accelerate the attainment of healthy sexual and reproductive life for all Fairfield County Residents.

SHC's comprehensive wellness initiative seeks to provide patients with a variety of choices for their fertility needs.  Our patient centered approach ensures that you are well informed and able to make the best decisions for your body and your future.

Integrative medicine refocuses medicine on health and healing. It insists on patients being treated as whole persons—minds and spirits, as well as physical bodies— who participate actively in their own healthcare.

Our center offers integrative fertility options to supplement or replace conventional medicine or invasive treatments. Nutrition, acupuncture, exercise, yoga, meditation, botanical herbs and lifestyle changes support getting pregnant.

Our packages were developed to treat the whole person and are supportive therapies that address the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual center, thus, creating the best conditions possible for conception to take place. Services help patients optimize their health, improve their coping skills, and decrease stress. This, along with knowledge of nutrition, lifestyle, and stress management, can lead to improved pregnancy rates and healthier patients and pregnancies.

In our Integrative Center, our multi-modality approach would be adopted in the treatment of infertility. A combination of diet, supplementation, exercise, lifestyle improvements, stress management, herbs, homoeopathy, and other methods may be selected in accordance with the needs of the individual.

Natural Fertility Treatment

Treatments vary from patient to patient depending on unique needs. Although our treatments are natural and generally extremely safe, they are also powerful fertility boosters. We’ve tried many treatments for patients over the years and have honed in on the treatments, products and brands that are most effective.

The main natural fertility treatments that we offer include:

Our natural fertility treatments work by:

  • Improving egg quality

  • Improving implantation rates

  • Increasing blood flow to the pelvic organs

  • Reducing inflammation in the pelvic organs

  • Balancing hormones

  • Reducing Stress

  • Increasing your overall health and nutritional status

Natural Fertility Cycling Monitoring

One of the most important parts of improving fertility naturally involves natural cycle monitoring. We have extensive knowledge about basal body temperature charting and other natural fertility detection methods. We can teach you how to tell when you are the most fertile, and tell you exactly when to have intercourse to optimize conception. You will dramatically increase your chances of conceiving on any given cycle using these techniques.

Traditional  Medicine and Infertility

Up to 15% of American couples are considered to be infertile. Utilizing Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) provides a wider variety of options than what is seen in modern conventional practices. Chinese medicine has a long tradition of treating infertility in both men and women.
Chinese medicine has a high rate of success in improving functional infertility that has resulted from conditions such as hormone imbalances, endocrine gland disorders, and emotional disturbances.Chinese medicine can also significantly improve some structural infertility problems, such as pelvic inflammatory disease, endometriosis, vaginitis, ovary dysfunction, and immune-system related infertility.

Naturopathic Fertility Assessment

Dr. Cindy will assess your fertility status by carefully examining your cycles, and fertility “signs and symptoms”. We’ll also assess your adrenal (stress) glands and other body systems through a urine test and order any specific testing required to solve missing pieces of your fertility puzzle. We can look at your basal body temperature charts to determine if there are hormonal imbalances that may be a factor in your difficulty conceiving.

SHC will help you make sense of the current controversies and research in hormone therapy, including the benefits of bio-identical hormones.  If you are still in your childbearing years and struggling with PMS, irregular cycles, infertility, poly cystic ovarian disease, desire a true family planning way to monitor your fertility (without contraceptives), or just want to know more about the miracle of your body, this system is specially tailored for you—to meet your needs.

Fully Fertile Diets

Women who are overweight or obese are at a greater risk of infertility. The fat cells in a woman's body are responsible for storing estradiol, the primary female reproductive hormone. When body fat levels are too high, the result is an excess amount of estrogen which will throw off the reproductive system. In low levels of body fat, there is less circulation of hormones and a gradual degradation of the reproductive functioning until it is turned off completely.

The SHC nutritional evaluations and consultations are designed to keep you at your most fertile levels of body fat. Maintaining a healthy weight, improving your nutrition habits, and having a healthy sleep cycle can all assist in hormonal regulation.

Yoga

Yoga for fertility is designed to benefit your overall health while you prepare for conception.  Some of these benefits are:

  • Helps to “reset” your endocrine system; aiding hormonal balance.

  • May help to clear adhesions and blockages in the reproductive areas.

  • Increases circulation to the reproductive system.

  • Supports a healthy immune system and supports the body in detoxifying.

  • Brings peace and vitality to your conception journey.

  • Creates an environment of clarity and reduces stress.

By performing fertility yoga, you are strengthening your reproductive organs and muscles that are used during pregnancy and childbirth.

For women who are already pregnant, yoga is a great way to prepare your body and mind for the birthing process!

  • A study in the Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic, & Neonatal Nursing found that women who started a yoga practice including meditation early in pregnancy effectively reduced stress and anxiety by the time they delivered.

  • Yoga is also known to help increase blood circulation to the reproductive system, reduce stress and be beneficial for women trying to conceive.

Meditation

Practicing mindfulness is important for anyone, and can be specifically beneficial to couples looking to conceive as well as pregnant women

Some of the benefits of practicing meditation include:

  • Better sleep

  • Connecting to your changing body

  • Anxiety/stress relief

  • Peace of mind

  • Less tension

  • Positive labor preparation

  • Lower risk of postpartum depression

Moms who have lower levels of stress or anxiety during pregnancy are less likely to deliver their babies at preterm or low birth weights. Keeping mom healthy will keep the baby healthy as well!!

Even if you are not currently having any of the issues noted above, you can still visit SHC for your annual well woman exam, common gynecological problems, weight management, urinary incontinence--or really any other women’s health issue you are facing. We are here to really listen to you.
